PNG files use the file extension PNG or png and are assigned MIME media type image/png. ![]() A PNG file contains a single image in an extensible structure of chunks, encoding the basic pixels and other information such as textual comments and integrity checks documented in RFC 2083. The PNG working group designed the format for transferring images on the Internet, not for professional-quality print graphics therefore non-RGB color spaces such as CMYK are not supported. PNG supports palette-based images (with palettes of 24-bit RGB or 32-bit RGBA colors), grayscale images (with or without an alpha channel for transparency), and full-color non-palette-based RGB or RGBA images. PNG was developed as an improved, non-patented replacement for Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) - unofficially, the initials PNG stood for the recursive acronym 'PNG's not GIF'. Portable Network Graphics (PNG) is a raster-graphics file format that supports lossless data compression.

![]() Cashew Cheese Q&AĬan you grate it? This cheese can also be grated, the firmer it is the easier it will grate, and the longer it’s in the fridge the firmer it gets, so if it’s not ideally firm for grating on the first day it will likely be grate-able by the second day.ĭoes it melt? I put a slice on a cracker and put it in the microwave for 15-seconds to see if it melted and it did! So it does melt.Ĭan you put it on pizza? We tried it on pizza. ![]() If you have no other option but to use flakes, then you will have to use 3 times as much of it. The agar agar powder is much stronger than the flakes and is what we used in this recipe. You get two types of agar agar, you get the powder version and the flakes. The crucial ingredient in this recipe is the agar agar powder. Just place the nuts into a bowl, pour boiling water over the top and then leave them to soak for 15 minutes, then drain and use as normal. If you know your blender will have trouble with this, then you can soak them briefly in boiling water. Provided your blender is strong enough I don’t really see any reason to soak them first in this recipe but I am not an expert on your blender. The reason it’s possible to do this is because you’re making a sauce to start off with, it’s not a super thick cheese right off the bat so it’s more easily blendable (I do have a vitamix though so that helps!). You can just go right in and blend them up. This recipe is quick and easy and one of the things that makes it so quick is that you don’t need to soak the cashews first. And we can’t wait to show it off to our guests next week. It’s perfect for a vegan cheese board with some red grapes, jams, maybe some mixed salted nuts and a selection of crackers (and maybe some wine too).Īnd let me just say, a slice of this on a cracker with some mixed fruit jam on top – but any jam would be awesome – was like the best thing ever. The water and agar powder dilute the spiciness of the cheese and while setting it also dilutes it a bit so you have to start off strong to end up with perfectly spiced cashew cheese. So basically, you make up a batch of cashew cheese sauce in the blender, but you spice it up more strongly than you would usually, to the point that if you taste it, you’ll be thinking: this is too strong!īut then you boil up a cup of water with agar agar powder on the stove, let that boil for a minute and then pour that mix into your cashew cheese sauce (conveniently still in the blender) blend it up again and then pour it all out into your dish to set. ![]() Some recipes recommend you cook it all up with the agar agar powder (which is what makes it set) on the stove and then pour it out into your dish to set, but this doesn’t work at all when you use more cashews to make a thicker/more robust cheese, because then it’s too thick to stir up properly with the agar agar.Īnd since the agar agar needs to boil for at least a minute for that agar powder to set up properly I found it a much better plan to do it separately. I started off with just a basic recipe and then quickly saw that I needed to add more cashews to make it really rich and lots more spices to make that cheese flavor really stand out. If you love making your own homemade vegan cheese then also check out our vegan brie, vegan camembert and vegan blue cheese. It’s sliceable and hard enough to cut perfect slices, but you can also still smash it on a cracker if you want to. To think it can be so easy to make a super impressive block of vegan cheese!Īnd it is simply fabulous! You can slice it into perfect slices and put them on crackers or bread or wherever you would eat a slice of cheese.Īnd you can mash it up too. If you follow us on instagram then you might have seen in our instastories where I was proudly showing off each new attempt.įrom the start though I was delighted with this. I have to admit it took me a fair few goes to get this one right. We have guests coming next week and I have a full on cheese board planned, with this as the main event! It’s here! Using a spatula, frost top and sides of cake with reserved cream mixture. Wipe any excess cream off platter, then freeze until set, at least 1 hour or up to overnight. Continue layering sandwiches, cream, and cookies, ending with a layer of cream, until all sandwiches are used (you should have 4 layers reserve remaining 1/4 cup cookies). Top with a thin layer of cream mixture and sprinkle with 1/4 cup cookies. Top with 4 ice cream sandwiches, placing 3 side by side and 1 along bottom of row for a square-shaped base, or 4 side by side for a rectangular-shaped base. Spread a thin layer of remaining cream mixture on bottom of a platter. Transfer half of the cream mixture to a medium bowl cover and chill until ready to use. Gently fold in chocolate syrup and peppermint extract. Keep the cake in the freezer, until it is ready to serve, allowing to come to room temperature for 10 minutes so it can easily be cut with a knife.Using an electric mixer on medium-low speed, beat cream in a large bowl until medium-stiff peaks form. Top with Oreo cookies upright in the center of each whipped topping star. Using a piping bag and large star tip, pipe cream along the top of the ice cream, and create a border of whipped topping around the outside edge. You can also use store-bought whipped cream. Whip a pint of whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla using a stand or hand mixer on medium to high speed until soft peaks form. Take one cake layer from the freeze, and unwrap the ice cream layer and invert on top of the cake layer. Place in freezer until once again frozen solid. Add ice cream to the round cake plan, smoothing out the top and add chocolate chips on top. We added some green food coloring to ours for the mint look but that is optional. Allow mint chip ice cream to lightly soften in a mixing bowl and mix. Line a 8″ round cake pan with plastic wrap. Note you will only need one cake layer for this cake. Cool cakes in pans for 15 minutes before inverting onto parchment paper. Bake until tops spring back when lightly pressed, about 30 minutes. Whisk in eggs, buttermilk, water, vanilla, and oil. Moreover, as we’ve seen in the past week, the usual matchup calculus won’t necessarily matter, as Terry Francona has gone completely nuts (in a good way!) with his bullpen management. This series is as evenly-matched as it comes and it defies the stereotypes these two teams earned over the course of the past couple of seasons. The teams faced off a convenient seven times this year - four times in Toronto, three times in Cleveland - and the Indians won four of seven. Beyond that, the Indians have the home field advantage and they played very well at home this year. The Jays can pitch and pick it just as much as they can bash. The Jays were fifth at 4.69 runs per game. Meanwhile, the Indians scored 4.83 runs per game this year, second in the AL. Toronto allowed the fewest runs per game in the American League this year: 4.11. ![]() In one start against Cleveland this year Estrada pitched five innings, allowing three runs on four hits but picking up the win all the same.Īs for the generalities of the series: I’ve seen a lot of casual mention of this being a battle of the pitching-first Indians against the bashing Blue Jays, but that’s. The Jays will start Marco Estrada (9-9, 3.48 ERA) who is coming off of a Game 1 in the Division Series against the Rangers having allowed one run on four hits in eight and a third. In five career starts against the Blue Jays Kluber is 1-3 with a 5.34 ERA. He faced them once this year and gave up five runs in less than four innings. He’ll have to be against the Blue Jays, against whom he has struggled in his career. His early season was uneven but he put himself in Cy Young contention in the second half and seems to be hitting on all cylinders now. Tonight we’ll be watching Indians ace Corey Kluber (18-9 3.14 ERA) and coming off of a three-hit, seven shutout inning performance against the Red Sox on Game 2. A seven-game series is not much better in that regard. ![]() That’ll show you what being favored in the postseason is worth. Neither of these teams are supposed to even be here, right? The Red Sox and Rangers were favored in each of the Division Series, after all, yet they were swept home in three games a piece.
